The back section of all cards in the deck depicts the yellow double-headed eagle on a red background, symbol of the Palaiologos Dynasty, the last Byzantine dynasty.

54 cards have an individual drawing of a character from the 300+ years of Late Byzantine history whether an emperor, empress, official, general, soldier, clergyman, commoner, and even foreign warriors and rulers.
